Studies published in the Journal of Investigative Medicine demonstrated that people with low levels of Vitamin D have a greater risk of getting autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis. Without enough Vitamin D, your body’s immune system just isn’t as capable of fighting off infections.
Vitamin D and COVID-19
When it comes to COVID-19, there is a relationship between low levels of Vitamin D and increased rates of death due to the virus. Living in Minnesota, we simply do not get enough Vitamin D. You should have 60 nanograms per milliliter present in the body at all times. Most people here have about 15, to give you an idea of the level of deficiency you may have.
